For different reasons, Saturday's game carried extra significance for goaltenders Steven Stanford of the Saskatoon Blades and Dalyn Flette of the Prince Albert Raiders. Seemingly as scripted, both 19-year-old goalies from Calgary were prominent parts of the storyline in a 4-3 shootout victory for the hometown Blades in front of 4,227 fans at the Credit Union Centre. Stanford picked up the win in his first game against his former team and stretched his record as a Blade to 7-0.

I was thinking (beforehand) who was going to shoot, and I thought maybe Cams and Hicks would probably be two of the top guys, because they’re the guys that usually scored on me in practice   -Steven Stanford

A third period goal by Charles Inglis was the difference as the Saskatoon Blades handed the Swift Current Broncos another frustrating loss. Inglis scored the only goal of the final period to lift the Blades to a 2-1 home ice victory, extending the Broncos current losing skid to four games and they fall to .500 with a 9-9-0-1 record. More frustrating is the fact the Broncos remain winless on the road with a disappointing 0-7-0-1 mark.
